Adam Basil (born 14 April 1975) is a former Australian track and field athlete, specialising in the 100m and 4x100m relay categories. He joined the prestigious Australian Institute of Sport back in 2000, marking the start of his professional career. Basil went on to represent Australia at multiple World Championships including Seville (1999), Paris (2003) and also at the 1994 World Junior Championship in Lisbon. He was part of the team that won a bronze medal at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton, initially placed fourth and later upgraded due to the disqualification of the USA team over illegal drug infringements. In the year 2003, he bagged the third position in the National 100m title race situating himself behind Patrick Johnson and Matt Shirvington. Basil was also part of the renowned team that raced at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, making it to the final where they secure the 6th place. After retiring as an athlete, Basil utilised his expertise by taking on the role of a strength and conditioning coach at Melbourne Victory FC and additionally served as a part-time athletics coach at Melbourne Grammar School. In 2013, he was made the High Performance coach at St Kilda Football Club.
