Adam Beach

Adam Beach, born on November 11, 1972, is a Canadian actor with a vibrant career spanning more than three decades. He stepped into the limelight for his roles as Victor Joseph in Smoke Signals, Frank Fencepost in Dance Me Outside, and U.S. Marine Corporal Ira Hayes in Flags of Our Fathers. His performance range also includes roles in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Skinwalkers, Coyote Waits and A Thief of Time film adaptations. He also played Slipknot in Suicide Squad, worked in Disney's historical drama film Squanto: A Warrior's Tale, and appeared in Hostiles and Netflix's original film Juanita. Beach was born in Ashern, Manitoba, and is of Saulteaux Anishinaabe and Icelandic descent.

His career boasts of a diverse representation of characters, using acting as a catharsis to express his personal stories. His acting journey started at the Manitoba Theatre for Young People, which he joined after dropping out of school. His big break came with the miniseries Lost in the Barrens, followed by roles in local theatre and guest appearances in TV shows such as Walker, Texas Ranger and Touched by an Angel. His performances landed him roles in television shows North of 60 and The Rez. His character in Smoke Signals earned him a nomination for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. Preparing for his role in Windtalkers, he spent six months learning the Navajo language. He was nominated for multiple Best Supporting Actor honors for his role in Flags of Our Fathers. More recently, he hosted the Canadian chainsaw carving competition show, A Cut Above.
