What's After the Movie
Alexander Fehling, born March 29, 1981, is a renowned German film and stage actor. He gained prominence for portraying Master Sgt. Wilhelm in Quentin Tarantino's World War II film 'Inglourious Basterds' in 2009, and for his role in the Showtime series 'Homeland' as Jonas Hollander, boyfriend of Claire Danes's character Carrie Mathison. Fehling was born in East Berlin, East Germany and studied acting at the prestigious Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts from 2003 until 2007. He won the Förderpreis Deutscher Film award in the Actor category for his captivating portrayal of Sven Lehnert in the 2006 film, 'And Along Come Tourists'. Prior to that, Fehling claimed the OE Hasse Prize from the Akademie der Künste, Berlin for his role as Prince in the theater production of 'Schneewittchen' (Snow White). Fehling reprised his role as German Master Sgt. Wilhelm, wherein his character was incorrectly referred to as a Staff Sgt by the English captions. Despite this, he gave a stellar performance that he also dubbed in the German version of the film. Fehling made regular appearances in the fifth season of the Showtime original series Homeland, which started airing in October 2015. Displaying his versatility as an actor, Fehling brilliantly played Jonas Hollander, a legal counsel for the Düring Foundation.
