Amanda Bynes

**Amanda Laura Bynes** (born April 3, 1986) is an American former actress. She began her career as a child, appearing on Nickelodeon's All That and its spin-off series The Amanda Show. During her mid-teens, she played Holly Tyler on the WB sitcom What I Like About You and starred in the teen comedy films Big Fat Liar and What a Girl Wants. As an adult, she appeared in the films She's the Man, Hairspray, and Easy A. Bynes is highly respected for her acting work in the 1990s and 2000s, winning a Critics' Choice Award and six Kids' Choice Awards among other accolades. She was born and grew up in Thousand Oaks, California, the youngest of three children born to Lynn, a dental assistant and office manager, and Rick Bynes, a dentist. She professionally started acting at age seven, appearing in various commercials and on stage. A Nickelodeon producer spotted her which led to her role on All That. Bynes starred in The Amanda Show from 1999 to 2002 which brought her significant recognition. She made her film debut in Big Fat Liar in 2002. She landed a major role in the WB sitcom What I Like About You from 2002 to 2006. In 2005, she starred in the romantic comedy Love Wrecked. After appearing in various high-profile films, she announced an indefinite hiatus from acting in 2010. Despite contemplating a return to acting in 2018, she decided to pursue a career in fashion design instead.
