**Amy Lynn Lee**, born December 13, 1981, is an American singer-songwriter and musician. She is widely recognized as the co-founder, lead vocalist, lead songwriter, and keyboardist of the rock band Evanescence. Lee started writing music at 11 and co-founded Evanescence at 13, inspired by an array of musical genres and film scores. Apart from Evanescence, Lee also participated in other musical projects such as Nightmare Revisited and Muppets: The Green Album. She composed music for several films like War Story (2014) and Indigo Grey: The Passage (2015). Some of her other notable works include the covers EP Recover, Vol. 1 (2016), the soundtrack album to War Story, the children's album Dream Too Much (2016), and collaborations with artists like Korn, Seether, Bring Me the Horizon, Lindsey Stirling, Body Count, and Wagakki Band. Lee's awards and nominations include the Songwriter Icon Award from the National Music Publishers Association in 2008, Best Vocalist at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards and Rock Goddess of the Year at Loudwire Music Awards in 2012, and more. In 2012, VH1 named her as one of the top 100 greatest women in music. Lee was the youngest of five siblings. She lost her younger sister at age three which greatly influenced her perspective on life and her work. At age six, she developed a passion for the piano which led her to study classical piano for nine years. Her family moved frequently before finally settling in Little Rock, Arkansas. The move had given her a sense of negativity which then was channeled into her music creation. She has faced bullying for her unique dressing style which she embraced during high school. Lee found solace in writing and her choir practice at school which helped her to slowly gain confidence in her voice.
