Andie MacDowell

**Andie MacDowell**, born as **Rosalie Anderson MacDowell** on April 21, 1958, is an acclaimed American actress and former fashion model. Renowned for her starring roles in both romantic comedies and dramas, MacDowell first captivated the public eye as a model for Calvin Klein and has been a spokesperson for L'Oréal since 1986. Her acting debut came with 'Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes' (1984) and 'St. Elmo's Fire' (1985). She achieved critical acclaim with the movie, 'Sex, Lies, and Videotape' (1989) which not only won her the Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead but also a nomination for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. She continued to star in a number of hits including 'Green Card' (1990), 'Groundhog Day' (1993), and 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' (1994). Recently, she co-starred with her daughter Margaret Qualley in the Netflix miniseries 'Maid' (2021) for which she received a Golden Globe nomination. MacDowell was born in Gaffney, South Carolina, to Pauline 'Paula' Johnston, a music teacher, and Marion St. Pierre MacDowell, a lumber executive. Overcoming familial adversity in her early years, MacDowell has successfully navigated the dynamics of Hollywood over the decades. She started her career in modelling with Elite Model Management, later transitioning to acting where she studied method acting with teachers from the Actors Studio. Through her turbulent career, marked by both critical accolades and box office disappointments, MacDowell has remained a prominent figure in the film industry.
