Andre Holland

American actor André Holland, born on December 28, 1979, is widely recognized for his versatile acting career spanning film, television, and theatre productions. He garnered considerable recognition with his 2016 performance as Kevin in the Academy Award-winning film Moonlight. Holland also starred as Dr. Algernon Edwards in the Cinemax series The Knick (2014–2015) and as Matt Miller in the FX series American Horror Story: Roanoke (2016). His portrayal of politician and activist Andrew Young in the 2014 film Selma and sportswriter Wendell Smith in the 2013 film 42, testifies to his proficiency to portray a wide array of characters.

His acting journey commenced at a young age with his first stage performance as part of a production of Oliver! at the Birmingham Summerfest Theatre. Holland was born and raised in Bessemer, Alabama, and later studied at Florida State University, spending some time at the FSU London study centre. He eventually completed his Master of Fine Arts degree from New York University in 2006. He made his initial on-screen appearance in Law & Order the same year, and began his stage performances around the same time, garnering positive reviews from The New York Times. In 2022, he was cast as Paul Cole in Duke Johnson's upcoming film The Actor, reinforcing his persistent relevance and talent in the film industry.
