Anne Baxter (May 7, 1923 – December 12, 1985) was a talented American actress who shone both on silver screens and Broadway productions. She was known for her outstanding performances and was honored with an Academy Award and a Golden Globe, and even received an Emmy nomination. Baxter was born into a talented family - she was the granddaughter of Frank Lloyd Wright - and had an early exposure to acting. Her acting career had a promising progression; she debuted in films with 20 Mule Team (1940), under 20th Century Fox where she was a contract player. One of the early milestones of her career was her role of Lucy Morgan in Orson Welles's The Magnificent Ambersons (1942). Her performance as Sophie MacDonald in The Razor's Edge (1946) won her both the Academy and Golden Globe Awards for Best Supporting Actress. Another notable role was in All About Eve (1950), which merited her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. She partnered with many of Hollywood's legendary directors, displaying her acting prowess in various films, including The Ten Commandments (1956) in which she received a Laurel Award. Apart from her successful movie career, Baxter made notable contributions to the television industry in the 1960s. She was also known for her guest appearances in popular shows such as Batman, Ironside, and My Three Sons.
