Bjørn Floberg, born on 12th September 1947, is a notable Norwegian actor known for his impactful contribution in the realms of film, television and theatre. He cemented his reputation by embodying a diverse array of roles, especially those of unsympathetic authority figures. His professional journey began in 1972 with a theatre group named Det Norske Teatret, performing in the plays such as The Caretaker, When You Comin' Back, Red Ryder?, Long Day's Journey into Night, and Saint Joan of the Stockyards. Floberg holds a deep admiration for Harold Pinter and has performed in various roles in Shakespeare's play Richard II. His film debut was in the science fiction movie, Oss, in 1976 and later heralded his breakthrough with Telegrafisten in 1993, where he depicted Ove Rolandsen, a telegraph operator and inventor. In 1997, his substantial role in the Norwegian crime film Insomnia, squaring off against fellow acclaimed actor Stellan Skarsgård, showcased his tremendous talent as an actor. He continued his film career into the 2000s with notable performances in numerous films, including Uno, Uro, and Bitre Blomster, showcasing his versatility as an actor. In recognition of his significant contributions to Norwegian cinema, Floberg received the Committee's Honorary Amanda Award during the annual ceremony at the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund in 2011.
