Born in Los Angeles as Blake Brown, she is the progeny of talent manager Elaine Lively and actor Ernie Lively, making her professional acting debut in Ernie Lively's directorial project Sandman (1998). Blake's breakthrough role came from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005) and its 2008 sequel, which solidified her place in the acting sphere. Further recognition followed with her portrayal of Serena van der Woodsen in the CW teen drama television series Gossip Girl (2007–2012).

Blake Lively had supporting roles in several films like New York, I Love You (2008), The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009), Café Society (2016), The Town (2010), Savages (2012), Green Lantern (2011) and starred in films such as The Age of Adaline (2015), The Shallows (2016), A Simple Favor (2018), and It Ends with Us (2024).
