Bradley Whitford

Bradley Whitford, an American actor and producer, came into the limelight for his role as White House Deputy Chief of Staff Josh Lyman in the NBC television political drama The West Wing. His outstanding performance led him to be nominated for the Primetime Emmy Awards from 2001 to 2003, eventually emerging victoriously in 2001. He was also recognized with three consecutive Golden Globe Award nominations. Apart from The West Wing, his prowess can be seen through his various roles in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, The Good Guys, The Mentalist, Billy Madison, The Post, Get Out, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Darkest Minds and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. In 2015, his role as Marcy in Transparent won him his second Primetime Emmy Award and his portrayal of Magnus in the same series led to his fifth Primetime Emmy Award nomination. Since 2018, Whitford has been acting as Commander Joseph Lawrence in The Handmaid's Tale, a role which won him his third Emmy in 2019. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin and spent part of his childhood in Wayne, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Madison East High School and later majored in English and theatre at Wesleyan University. Whitford studied drama at the Juilliard School where he was a member of 'Group 14'. His acting debut was in a 1985 episode of The Equalizer and he appeared in his first film in the 1986 movie Dead as a Doorman. Whitford's career escalated after working with Aaron Sorkin and appearing in several recurring roles during the 1980s and 1990s.
