Robert Clark Gregg Jr., known as Clark Gregg, is a highly acclaimed American actor, director, and screenwriter born on April 2, 1962. He is best known for his portrayal of Phil Coulson in various films and television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe from 2008 to 2021. Gregg's work also extended into voicing Coulson in the animated television series Ultimate Spider-Man (2012–2017) and several Marvel video games.

Gregg's talent isn't confined to the Marvel Universe. He was noticed as the FBI Special Agent Mike Casper on NBC's political drama series The West Wing (2001–2004) and as Richard, the ex-husband of Christine Campbell, in the CBS sitcom The New Adventures of Old Christine (2006–2010). He also penned the horror film What Lies Beneath (2000) and directed and wrote the black comedy Choke (2008) and the comedy-drama Trust Me (2013). Apart from these, he appeared in numerous films. Gregg, born in Boston, Massachusetts, shifted to Manhattan after dropping out from Ohio Wesleyan University. He later enrolled at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, graduating in 1986. Throughout his career, Gregg has been part of various significant theatrical organizations and featured in several roles in films and TV series. With iconic roles such as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson, his career with Marvel Studios has significantly expanded. He also directed episodes in the superhero drama series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
