Conchata Galen Ferrell (March 28, 1943 – October 12, 2020) was a renowned American actress. The majority of people remember her brilliantly for her portrayal of Berta the housekeeper on the popular sitcom Two and a Half Men between 2003 to 2015. For this role, Ferrell was honored with two nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2005 and 2007. Prior to this, she was nominated for the same award in the Drama Series category in 1992, for her impactful performance in L.A. Law. Born in Loudendale, West Virginia, Ferrell's acting journey began on stage with the reputable Circle Repertory Company. She later captivated the audience with her award-winning performance in the off-Broadway play The Sea Horse. Ferrell also worked in various successful films such as Heartland, Mystic Pizza, and Edward Scissorhands. Her versatile acting skills were recognized in different genres of roles, from a frontier wife to a tough-talking pizza joint owner, and from a comical nurse to an authoritative attorney. Ferrell's notable television credits include Maude, Good Times, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Hot l Baltimore. Her remarkable contribution to the movie industry spans over decades, and she continued to impress her fans up until 2020. She succumbed to complications following cardiac arrest in Sherman Oaks, California on October 12, 2020.
