Danuta Stenka (born 10 October 1961 in Sierakowice, Poland) is a critically acclaimed Polish actress. She started her acting career by making her stage debut in 1984, which scouts her rapid growth in the industry acting in numerous productions, and earning theater awards for her performances. Stenka marked her significant presence on the big screen in 1995, since then she has been an active part of more than 60 films. These diverse filmography brought her two Polish Film Awards for her monumental performances in the films Chopin: Desire for Love (2002), and Katyń (2007). Stenka's career quickly escalated when she began to work at Teatr Dramatyczny in Warsaw in 1991. Over the next decade, she distinguished herself in several roles in renowned director Krzysztof Warlikowski's performances, such as Electra, The Taming of the Shrew, Krum, Angels in America and (A)pollonia. In 2003, Danuta Stenka joined the ensemble of the National Theatre in Warsaw, working with many renowned directors such as Robert Wilson, Grzegorz Jarzyna, and Maja Kleczewska. She showcased her versatile acting skills in different roles leading her to win above 30 awards for her theatre and film work. Among her awards is the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture, Gloria Artis, awarded by the Polish Ministry of Culture.
