Douglas Hodge

Douglas William Hodge, born on 25 February 1960, is an English actor, director and musician. Hailing from Plymouth, Devon, he moved to Kent at a young age and went on to receive his education in Kent's Fairview Primary School and The Howard School. Despite being unhappy and subsequently leaving his place at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), his passion for acting never dwindled and led to his extensive career in theatre, film, and television. He is recognized for his performances in notable productions like Robin Hood (2010), Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return and Diana (both 2013), Penny Dreadful (2016), Catastrophe (2018), Joker and Lost in Space (both 2019), and The Great (2020–2023). As a theatre artist, Hodge did remarkable performances in plays by Harold Pinter and was nominated for an Olivier Award for his role in The Caretaker, co-starring Michael Gambon and Rupert Graves. His other accolades include an Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical for La Cage aux Folles in 2010 and a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for the same play in its Broadway iteration. His talent also extends to writing and music, having written a musical with Aschlin Ditta and releasing two albums of his original compositions. In addition to his work in theatre, he has starred in various TV series like The Night Manager, Black Mirror, and Penny Dreadful.
