American actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld had her breakthrough moment with the 2010 western film True Grit, which earned her several accolades including Academy Award and BAFTA Award nominations. Born on December 11, 1996, in Los Angeles, California, she gained wider recognition with roles in the Pitch Perfect film series and The Edge of Seventeen and has since portrayed Emily Dickinson in the Apple TV+ series Dickinson and also modeled Kate Bishop in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Steinfeld's equally successful music career saw her sign with Republic Records after performing in Pitch Perfect 2. Her debut single 'Love Myself' was followed by a debut EP Haiz. She has had a string of successful singles such as 'Starving', 'Most Girls' and 'Let Me Go', and released a second EP, Half Written Story, in 2020. Steinfeld was raised in Agoura Hills and later in Thousand Oaks, California. She was inspired to start acting at the age of eight after watching her maternal first cousin, actress True O'Brien, in a television commercial.
