**Hamza Haq**, born October 27, 1990, is a talented Canadian actor, most recognized for the portrayal of protagonist Bashir Hamed in the celebrated medical drama television program, *Transplant*. For this performance, Haq was awarded three successive Canadian Screen Awards for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023. Initially, Haq was born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to Pakistani parents. At the age of nine, he emigrated to Canada, achieving Canadian citizenship. His early life was characterized by his father's occupation in an airline and his mother's work as an organic chemist. He then attended a school in the Filipino embassy in Saudi Arabia, later switching to an American school and graduating from Bell High School in Ottawa, Ontario. Eventually, Haq advanced his education at Carleton University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in film studies with a minor in law. His career began with various television series feature films. Notably, Haq's acting roles include the TV series *Quantico* and the miniseries *The Indian Detective*, and he also hosted the children's television program, *Look Kool*. In 2018, at the 6th Canadian Screen Awards, he earned a nomination for the Best Performance in a Guest Role in a Drama Series. In 2019, Haq was presented with the Star award from the Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival. He then secured the leading role in the TV series *Transplant* in 2020 and supported in Philippe Falardeau's film, *My Salinger Year*. Haq was lauded by John Doyle of The Globe and Mail for one of the best performances in Canadian television for 2020, making Haq Canadian television's breakout star. After concluding *Transplant*, Haq is set to play the role of Tommy Hawley in the forthcoming Crave crime drama series, *Underbelly*.
