His substantial career shift occurred in 2017 when, after a global casting call, he secured a lead role in the film Crazy Rich Asians alongside Constance Wu. His charm and charismatic personality quickly won him his first major acting role. The film was praised by critics and topped the box office charts on its opening weekend. Following this, Golding appeared in Paul Feig's thriller A Simple Favor co-starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick. Golding's successful trajectory continued as he starred in various acclaimed films such as the romantic comedy Last Christmas and the action-comedy The Gentlemen. More recently, in 2021, he portrayed the title character in the action-adventure Snake Eyes. In personal life, Golding married Taiwanese television presenter and yoga instructor, Liv Lo, in August 2016. They have two daughters and they reside in Venice Beach, California.
