Inge Maux, born as Ingeborg Christine Wöchtl, is a touchstone of Austrian acting. Born on 2nd October 1944 in Mettmach, Upper Austria, she grew up mainly in her homeland. Her uncle, the esteemed composer Richard Maux, played an instrumental role in her teenage years, encouraging her to join the Vienna Drama School Krauss. In her bid to pursue acting, she also adopted his surname. Her acting career, spanning over multiple decades, has witnessed her grace theaters across Europe, demonstrating her versatile talents in Schauspiel Köln, Schauspielhaus Zürich, and various musicals. Notable performances are Yente in Anatevka at the Zürich Opera House, Maria Wartberg in Ich war noch niemals in New York at Raimund Theater, and Betty Dullfeet in The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui at Vienna Volkstheater. She made significant guest appearances at the Residenz Theater Munich, Ernst Deutsch Theater in Hamburg, Theater in der Josefstadt and Theater in der Drachengasse.
