Jackson Browne

Born Clyde Jackson Browne on October 9, 1948, Jackson Browne is an accomplished American rock musician, singer, songwriter, and political activist who has sold over 30 million albums in the United States. Making his debut as a teenage songwriter in mid-1960s Los Angeles, he initially gained recognition writing songs for fellow Southern California bands. His self-titled debut album in 1972 contained two Top 40 hits. He achieved remarkable success with his 1977 album Running on Empty, exploring themes of life as a touring musician, and producing several popular radio hits.

Further successful albums followed throughout the 1980s, including Hold Out, his only number 1 album. However, his string of hit albums ended with Lives in the Balance in 1986, which bore several radio hits and a deeply introspective number inspired by the suicide of his first wife. His most recent studio album is Downhill from Everywhere, released in 2021. Browne's profound impact on the music industry was recognized in 2015 when Rolling Stone ranked him as 37th on their list of the "100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time".
