James Carville

Chester James Carville Jr. (born October 25, 1944) is a well-known American political consultant, author, and occasional actor. He gained national popularity through his work as a principal strategist during Bill Clinton's victorious 1992 presidential campaign. Dubbed the 'Ragin' Cajun' for his fiery and candid approach, Carville's contribution towards public office candidates within the U.S and 23 other countries is also widely recognized. He frequently appears in U.S. elections as an influential pundit on various cable news programs, podcasts, and public speeches. Carville cemented his position in the spotlight by strategizing for several unsuccessful Democratic Party presidential contenders including Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, New York Senator Hillary Clinton, and Colorado Senator Michael Bennet. He shares a marital bond with Mary Matalin, a long-time Republican political consultant. Carville was born on October 25, 1944, in Fort Benning, Georgia while his father was stationed during World War II. He was brought up in Carville, Louisiana, a city named after his paternal grandfather. After a two-year stint in the United States Marine Corps, he completed his education at the Louisiana State University, earning his Bachelor of Science degree and Juris Doctor degree. Prior to stepping into the world of politics, Carville worked as an attorney and junior high school science teacher. His diverse career journey also includes being an invited professor at Louisiana State University and Tulane University, public speaker, author of multiple books, and television and film appearances.
