January Jones

**January Kristen Jones**, popularly known as *January Jones*, is an American actress and model who has made an indelible mark in the TV and film industry. Born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on January 5, 1978, she got her unique name from the character January Wayne in the 1973 Jacqueline Susann novel, *Once Is Not Enough*. Jones started her career in modeling at the age of 18, but acting was her real calling. She's known for her sterling performances in *Mad Men* (2007–2015) where she played Betty Draper and received two Golden Globe nominations and one Emmy nomination. Jones also portrayed Melissa Chartres in the series, *The Last Man on Earth* (2015–2018) and appeared in notable films including *American Wedding* (2003), *We Are Marshall* (2006), *The Boat That Rocked* (2009), *Unknown* (2011), *Seeking Justice* (2011), and *X-Men: First Class* (2011). In her earlier career, Jones was a model for renowned brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Versace, and Clearasil. After moving to Los Angeles, Jones transitioned into acting, starting with supporting roles in *Anger Management* (2003), *Love Actually* (2003), and *Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights* (2004). A few of her most popular performances include the lead role in *Love's Enduring Promise* and significant roles in *American Wedding*, *The Boat That Rocked*, *Unknown*, and *Seeking Justice*. Her character Emma Frost in *X-Men: First Class* is also widely acclaimed. Aside from her acting achievements, Jones is recognized for her charity work, notably with the marine conservation organization Oceana, aimed at protecting endangered sharks.
