Jason Mitchell

**Jason Mitchell** (born January 5, 1987) is an American actor best known for his role as rapper Eazy-E in the 2015 biopic *Straight Outta Compton*, a film that is considered his career breakthrough. He acted in minor roles in films such as *Contraband* (2012), and *Broken City* (2013) at the start of his career. His compelling portrayal in *Straight Outta Compton* earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Ensemble Cast in a Motion Picture. Mitchell's filmography also includes *Keanu* (2016), *Barry* (2016), *The Disaster Artist* (2017), and *Kong: Skull Island* (2017). He has demonstrated his versatile acting ability with appearances in critically acclaimed films like Kathryn Bigelow's *Detroit* (2017), Dee Rees' *Mudbound* (2017), and Janicza Bravo's *Zola* (2021). Mitchell's talent also extends to the small screen, with guest appearances in Amazon Studios' limited series *Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams* (2018), Alan Yang's dark comedy series *Forever*, and Lena Waithe's Showtime series *The Chi*. However, his stint in *The Chi* ended in 2019 due to allegations of misconduct. Mitchell was also arrested in Harrison County, Mississippi in 2020 for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a felon.
