Jeanne Balibar

**Jeanne Balibar**, born on 13 April 1968, is a renowned French actress and singer. Born in the heart of Paris, she is the progeny of Marxist philosopher Étienne Balibar and physicist Françoise Balibar. Balibar's career took a leap at the well-known French theatre school, 'Cours Florent', in Paris where she acquainted with notable personalities like actor Eric Ruf and photographer & actor Gregory Herpe. She kicked off her incredible journey in acting on the stage, with 'Don Juan' at the Festival d'Avignon. Her debut in film was marked by her role in Arnaud Desplechin's 1992 film The Sentinel. Simultaneously excelling in both domains, stage and film, Balibar continues to exhibit her versatility in performance. Expressing her political interests, she backed François Hollande in his 2012 presidential campaign. Balibar's brilliance is evident from her performances in films like 'Ne change rien' (2009) directed by Pedro Costa, '17 Times Cécile Cassard' (2002) directed by Christophe Honoré alongside Béatrice Dalle and Romain Duris, and 'Clean' (2004) directed by Olivier Assayas with co-stars Maggie Cheung and Nick Nolte. Apart from acting, she has also demonstrated her talent in singing, noted from her discographies Paramour' (2003) & 'Slalom Dame' (2006). She was honored with the Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2016, and in 2017, she was bestowed the Lumières Award and César Award both for Best Actress.
