What's After the Movie
Jehnny Beth, born as Camille Berthomier on December 24, 1984, is a talented French musician and actress, originally hailing from Poitiers, France. She later relocated to London in 2006, making a prominent mark in the European indie rock music scene as one-half of the dynamic duo John & Jehn. However, her global recognition primarily stems from her role as the frontwoman of the English post-punk band Savages. Jehnny's musical prowess took a solo turn when her debut solo album titled 'To Love Is to Live' hit the music world in June 2020, receiving critical acclaim. The years following saw a series of collaborations with artists like Trentemøller, Julian Casablancas, Tindersticks, Gorillaz, Noel Gallagher, Romy Madley Croft of the xx, and several others. In 2021, she further amplified her musical repertoire by releasing a duet album with Bobby Gillespie, titled 'Utopian Ashes'. It garnered favorable reviews from the music industry. Jehnny's talents aren't limited to music. She has tried her hand in acting, gathering commendation in 'An Impossible Love' (2018) and scoring a nomination for Best Female Newcomer at the 2019 Cesar Awards. Jehnny's early musical journey began with jazz music lessons around the age of 8, followed by significant roles in theater and music recitals by the age of 10. She received her training in dramatic arts at the conservatoire de Poitiers prior to moving to London and aligning her musical pursuits with Nicolas Congé 'Johnny Hostile'. Apart from music and acting, Jehnny also established a record label 'Pop Noire' in 2011, co-founded with Johnny Hostile and Antoine Carlier, and ventured into writing, publishing an erotic short stories book 'C.A.L.M' in collaboration with Johnny Hostile in 2020.
