What's After the Movie
Jeroen Aart Krabbé, born on December 5th, 1944, is of Dutch origins, and renowned for his talents as an actor, film director, and even as a painter. His notable contribution to Dutch and English-language films has gained him a commendable reputation over the years. Some of his memorable roles include his performances in Paul Verhoeven films like 'Soldier of Orange' (1977) and 'The Fourth Man' (1983). Known for playing General Georgi Koskov, the villain in the James Bond film 'The Living Daylights' (1987), he also appeared in movies like 'The Prince of Tides' (1991), 'The Fugitive' (1993), and 'Immortal Beloved' (1994). His remarkable debut as a director came in 1998 with the film 'Left Luggage', which was nominated for the Golden Bear at the 49th Berlin International Film Festival. Beyond his artistic powers in film, he made a significant footprint in the television industry with productions such as playing Satan in the TV production 'Jesus'. Alongside his work on select Dutch television series about his favorite painters, an exhibition of his paintings was also held at Museum de Fundatie in Zwolle in 2008. His first series in 2015 was about Van Gogh, followed by a series about Picasso in 2017, Gauguin in 2018, Chagall in 2020, and finally Frida Kahlo in 2022.
