Jerrod Carmichael

**Rothaniel Jerrod Carmichael**, widely known as _Jerrod Carmichael_, is an American comedian, actor, writer, and filmmaker, born on April 6, 1987 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He kick-started his career in the entertainment industry in 2008. Carmichael has released three stand-up comedy specials on HBO, including 'Love at the Store' (2014), '8' (2017), and 'Rothaniel' (2022). He achieved significant recognition for co-creating, co-writing, producing, and starring in the semi-autobiographical NBC sitcom 'The Carmichael Show' between 2015 and 2017. Carmichael made his directorial debut with the dark comedy film 'On the Count of Three' (2021), where he also played the lead role. In 2022, he earned a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special for 'Rothaniel', and was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his guest role in 'Saturday Night Live'. He grew up influenced by renowned comedians like George Carlin, Bill Cosby, Richard Pryor, and Sinbad. Apart from his comedy and acting ventures, Carmichael has also appeared on rapper Tyler, the Creator's album 'Igor' (2019) and has worked as a co-writer for a film adaptation based on the Django/Zorro comic book series. He openly identifies as gay in his comedy special 'Rothaniel'.
