Jodie Turner-Smith

**Jodie Turner-Smith** (born 7 September 1986) is a British actress known for her performances in a series of notable films and TV shows. She made her feature film debut in _The Neon Demon_ (2016) and has since then worked in other impressive productions such as _Queen & Slim_ (2019), _After Yang_ (2022), and _White Noise_ (2022). Turner-Smith's TV roles are equally remarkable with stints in TNT's _The Last Ship_ (2017), Syfy's _Nightflyers_ (2018), and most famously, the title role in the series _Anne Boleyn_ (2021). Born to Jamaican parents, Turner-Smith was the only sibling born outside of Jamaica, specifically in Peterborough, England. Post her parents' divorce, she moved to the United States with her mother and siblings at 10 years of age and resided in Gaithersburg, Maryland. She initially pursued a career in finance, graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008 and subsequently worked at a bank. She later switched her career path after an inspiring encounter with musician Pharrell Williams, which led her to acting and modeling. Turner-Smith has lived in Los Angeles since 2009 and has made significant strides in her career, gaining prominence and recognition over the years. Despite facing some backlash for her portrayal of Queen Anne Boleyn due to her race, Turner-Smith's performance was highly acclaimed.
