Jodie Turner-Smith

Jodie Turner-Smith (born 7 September 1986) is a British actress known for her performances in a series of notable films and TV shows. She made her feature film debut in The Neon Demon (2016) and has since then worked in other impressive productions such as Queen & Slim (2019), After Yang (2022), and White Noise (2022). Turner-Smith's TV roles are equally remarkable with stints in TNT's The Last Ship (2017), Syfy's Nightflyers (2018), and most famously, the title role in the series Anne Boleyn (2021). Born to Jamaican parents, Turner-Smith was the only sibling born outside of Jamaica, specifically in Peterborough, England. Post her parents' divorce, she moved to the United States with her mother and siblings at 10 years of age and resided in Gaithersburg, Maryland. She initially pursued a career in finance, graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008 and subsequently worked at a bank. She later switched her career path after an inspiring encounter with musician Pharrell Williams, which led her to acting and modeling. Turner-Smith has lived in Los Angeles since 2009 and has made significant strides in her career, gaining prominence and recognition over the years. Despite facing some backlash for her portrayal of Queen Anne Boleyn due to her race, Turner-Smith's performance was highly acclaimed. In her personal life, Turner-Smith was married to fellow actor Joshua Jackson, with whom she has a daughter, but filed for divorce in 2023.
