Joseph John Cole, known as Joe Cole, is an English football coach and former professional footballer who was born on 8 November 1981. Highly regarded as one of the most talented English players of his generation and one of the most technically gifted English players of all time, Cole played as an attacking midfielder or winger. Starting his career with West Ham United in 1998, he played more than 120 Premier League games over five seasons. In 2003, after the club was relegated to the Football League First Division, Cole signed for Chelsea, where he spent seven successful seasons. His career later took him to Liverpool, a season in France with Lille, a second stint at West Ham, then to Aston Villa and finally to Coventry City. Cole retired in 2018 and took up a coaching role at Chelsea. His international career saw him capped by England at under-16, under-18, under-21 and senior level, and he was selected for the England squad at the 2002, 2006 and 2010 World Cups and Euro 2004. Cole remains a prominent figure in the football world as a pundit on TNT Sports.
