John Heard

John Heard (1946–2017) was an acclaimed American actor, celebrated for his nuanced and compelling performances. Heard made his mark in the movie industry with performances spanning over four decades, becoming a familiar face both in Hollywood blockbusters and television dramas. He was born on March 7, 1946, in Washington, D.C., United States. Early in his career, Heard focused on stage acting, and his dedication to the craft was recognized with a Theatre World Award and an Obie award. His first major breakthrough in films came with the romantic comedy 'Chilly Scenes of Winter' in 1979. His career skyrocketed with his role in 'Cutter's Way', followed by a popular performance in 'Cat People'. However, his most recognized role was as Peter McCallister, the father in the iconic 'Home Alone' series. Not confining himself to just movies, Heard was also quite successful in TV series, bagging an Emmy nomination for his guest role on 'The Sopranos'. Unfortunately, Heard's off-screen life was also filled with a fair share of complications. He was married and divorced three times. His former wives include Margot Kidder, Sharon Heard and Lana Pritchard. His enduring legacy is carried on by his two children, John Matthew Heard and Annika Backes.
