He earned much acclaim for his performances as janitor Carl Reed in The Breakfast Club and Detective Donald Schanke in Forever Knight. This multi-talented actor had diverse roles, marking his name in the Hollywood film industry by appearing in three John Hughes films, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Weird Science. His work in these films earned him recognition in the 1980s as a remarkable character actor. His other significant movie appearances include The Deep End of the Ocean, which was critically acclaimed by The New York Times and Roger Ebert from The Chicago Sun Times.
