John Magaro

**John Robert Magaro**, born on February 16, 1983, in Akron, Ohio, is an acclaimed American actor noted for his diverse filmography. He started exhibiting interest in acting at an early age, participating in several local theater shows within his hometown. His acting path marked its beginnings with TV commercials and roles in different local theatre productions like the Cleveland Play House, the Kent State Porthouse Theatre at Blossom Music Center, and Weathervane Playhouse. His talents also shone through in a Rescue 911 episode during his early acting days. After high school, he further refined his craft by studying theatre at Point Park University in Pittsburgh. Over the years, he has showcased his acting abilities in various films, building up a rich filmography that encompasses engaging roles in Not Fade Away (2012), The Big Short (2015), Carol (2015), Overlord (2018), First Cow (2019), Showing Up (2022), and Past Lives (2023). Equally comfortable in both film and television, he made significant contributions to popular Netflix series such as Orange Is the New Black (2015–2019) and The Umbrella Academy (2019), and the Amazon series Crisis in Six Scenes (2016). Magaro made his grand Broadway debut as Earl Williams in the revival of The Front Page in 2016. His exceptional performance as 'Cookie' in First Cow (2019) earned him a 2020 Gotham Award nomination as Best Actor.
