Josiane Balasko

Josiane Balasko, born Josiane Balašković on 15 April 1950, is a renowned French actress, writer, and director. Her illustrious career started in 1973 when she was only 23, making her first screen appearance in the short L'Agression, with Patrick Bouchitey. She returned to the screen after three years in the film The Tenant, directed by Roman Polanski. Her career took off in 1977 when she appeared in seven films in a year, including Animal, Pardon Mon Affaire, Too!, and This Sweet Sickness. These films were huge successes and firmly established her in the French film industry. She continued to shine in various roles and was nominated multiple times for César Awards, winning twice. One of her most recognized roles is a lesbian in 1995's Gazon maudit (French Twist), for which she won the 1996 César Award for best screenplay. Balasko has had a busy career since 1990, acting in various films and garnering international success as a director. In 2018 she ventured into music, recording a song with rapper Mac Tyer. Balasko has continued to maintain a strong presence in the industry till present.
