Josephine Victoria "Joy" Behar, born on October 7, 1942, is an American comedian, television host, and actress, primarily known for co-hosting the ABC talk show The View. Since the inception of the series, Joy Behar has been a prominent figure, earning her a Daytime Emmy Award in 2009 for her work. Her career in television spans various programs, including The Joy Behar Show on HLN aired from 2009 to 2011, and Joy Behar: Say Anything! aired on Current TV from 2012 until the channel switched formats in August 2013. She also hosted the Late Night Joy show aired on TLC in 2015. In addition to television, Behar has distinguished herself as an author, penning The Great Gasbag: An A–Z Study Guide to Surviving Trump World among her works.

Born in 1942 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, to a Roman Catholic family of Italian descent, Behar started her career in show business in the early 1980s. Positively, her career progressed from being a receptionist to a producer on Good Morning America, then moved on to perform as a stand-up comedian, making appearances on ABC's Good Morning America and The New Show. Her journey wasn't without its ups and down. Despite these, she maintained a steady presence by hosting a variety talk show on Lifetime Television, working at the comedy club circuit, and playing minor roles in films. She marked her territory with her talk-show on 77 WABC radio in New York City in the early 1990s and appearances on HBO comedy special. She has also been active in theatre, authorship, and even played the role of Dr. Lucy in the 2011 comedy film Hall Pass.
