Julian Rhind-Tutt

Julian Alistair Rhind-Tutt, born on 20 July 1967, is a remarkable English actor recognized chiefly for playing the character of Dr "Mac" Macartney in the comedy television series Green Wing that aired between 2004 and 2006. Born in West Drayton, London, he is the youngest of five siblings, with a decade-long gap separating him and his two brothers and two sisters. During his school years in John Lyon School, Rhind-Tutt actively participated and acted in school productions, eventually earning the lead role in a school production of Hamlet at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe during mid-1980s. After studying English and Theatre Studies at the University of Warwick, he went on to attend the Central School of Speech and Drama in London where he won the prestigious 1992 Carleton Hobbs Award from BBC Radio Drama. His acting career kickstarted as the Duke of York in The Madness of King George (1994), following which he played a variety of roles in television and film. He landed a major role in William Boyd's First World War drama, The Trench (1999), co-starring in the Graham Linehan-Arthur Mathews sitcom Hippies, and then appearing in several major British comedy series of the period including Smack the Pony, Absolutely Fabulous and Black Books. Among the numerous roles he has played, his role in cult American show Keen Eddie as Inspector Monty Pippin stands out. In addition to his screen appearances, his voice has been featured in over 50 radio productions.
