What's After the Movie
Kim Althea Gordon, born April 28, 1953, is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and rapper best known as the bassist, guitarist, and vocalist of the alternative rock band, Sonic Youth. Gordon forged a path with Sonic Youth in New York City's underground music scene before rising to prominence in the alternative rock boom of the 1990s. Her on-stage persona often mirrored the Sonic Youth's music: mysterious, powerful, and cool. She was also a founding member of Free Kitten and remained consistently active as a visual artist throughout her music career, even making minor appearances in films and TV series. After Sonic Youth disbanded in 2011, Gordon formed an experimental music project, Body/Head, before releasing her first solo album, No Home Record, in 2019. As well as being an accomplished musician, Gordon is a published author and has had ventures in record producing and fashion.
