Laurie Metcalf

**Laurie Metcalf**, born as Laura Elizabeth Metcalf on the 16th of June 1955, is a widely recognized American actress and comedian. Known for her versatility and ability to tackle complex roles in various settings, she has garnered numerous accolades in a flourishing career spanning over four decades. These include four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Tony Awards, along with nominations for an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, and three Golden Globe Awards. Metcalf kickstarted her career with the renowned Steppenwolf Theatre Company and has consistently performed in Chicago theatre. Her debut on Broadway occurred with the 1985 play 'My Thing of Love'. She has gained six Tony Award nominations, clinching the Best Actress in a Play in 2017 for her role in 'A Doll's House, Part 2' and Best Featured Actress in a Play for her part in the 2018 revival of Edward Albee's 'Three Tall Women'. Metcalf gained nationwide attention for her role as Jackie Harris in Roseanne (1988–1997, 2018), winning three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for it. Her contribution to the film industry is equally significant, with her best-known role being Marion McPherson in Greta Gerwig's comedy-drama film 'Lady Bird' (2017). She has also lent her voice to Mrs. Davis, the mother of Andy, in the Toy Story franchise.
