His works are recognized for their emotional intricacy, erotic themes, and lavish visual aesthetics. He started his career directing short films and documentaries before making his feature debut with 'The Protagonists' in 1999. His move into the international limelight came with the 'Desire Trilogy', consisting of acclaimed films such as 'I Am Love', 'A Bigger Splash' and 'Call Me By Your Name'. Apart from filmmaking, Luca has also ventured into the fashion realm, directing ads for luxury brands. He founded the production company Frenesy Film Company in 2012.
