Lucas Hedges

Lucas Hedges (born December 12, 1996) is an acclaimed American actor. Born and bred in New York City, Lucas descended from an artistic lineage, being the son of filmmaker Peter Hedges, and was drawn to theater from a young age. He studied the craft at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. His acting journey commenced with a supporting role in Wes Anderson's comedy-drama Moonrise Kingdom (2012). Lucas' breakthrough came in 2016 in Kenneth Lonergan's drama, Manchester by the Sea where his portrayal of a cynical teenager won him accolades, earning him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Lucas then had supporting roles in the coming-of-age film Lady Bird and the drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri in 2017.

In 2018, Lucas played the lead role of a teenager subjected to a gay conversion therapy program in Boy Erased, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Drama. He made his Broadway debut in a revival of Lonergan's drama The Waverly Gallery the same year. Lucas has been a presence in the West End theatre with a production of Brokeback Mountain in 2023. Lucas has also dipped his toes into writing and made his feature film debut as an extra in his father's film Dan in Real Life (2007). His range in roles span across different genres, from drama to comedy, highlighting his versatility and skill in the performing arts.
