Margo Martindale

Margo Martindale, born July 18, 1951, is an acclaimed American character actress who has proven her acting prowess across multiple mediums, including television, film, and stage. She is recognized for her compelling performances in a variety of roles, earning a Primetime Emmy Award and a Critics' Choice Television Award in 2011 for her recurring role as Mags Bennett on 'Justified'. Martindale was also nominated for an Emmy four times for her portrayal of Claudia on 'The Americans', winning the accolade in both 2015 and 2016. Throughout her career, she has gained significant recognition with several supporting roles in a diverse list of films, such as 'Million Dollar Baby' and 'The Hours', among many others. In addition to her screen work, Martindale has exhibited her acting abilities on stage as well, making her Broadway debut in the 2004 revival of 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.', earning a nomination for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play.

Martindale was born and raised in Jacksonville, Texas. She attended Lon Morris College before transferring to the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. In the early 1980s, Martindale honed her craft with a four-year stint at the Actors Theatre, Louisville, Kentucky and later made her mark in the miniseries 'Lonesome Dove'. Television saw a series of recurring character and guest appearances on various shows, such as 'Dexter' and 'The Good Wife', while her distinctive voice featured in the animated series 'BoJack Horseman'.
