He kickstarted his career in the ABC daytime soap opera One Life to Live in 1983 and appeared in a Broadway production in the same year. He has shown considerable versatility throughout his career, playing Ulysses S. Grant in a miniseries, starring in various films by director Oliver Stone, and taking on supporting roles in a wide range of movies from Gettysburg to Bombshell. His leading role in the 1997 romantic comedy-drama Just in Time directed by Shawn Levy is one of his most recognizable roles. He has also appeared in several made-for-television movies and sitcoms and has guest-starred on numerous shows, including Star Trek: Voyager, ER, The West Wing, and Grey's Anatomy. His role in Desperate Housewives earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance in 2005 and 2006. He played a recurring role on AMC's Mad Men, winning another Screen Actors Guild Award in 2009. More recent years saw him in recurring roles on shows like Homeland, Manhattan, and Law & Order True Crime, and as a series regular on the Fox crime drama Deputy. Despite the latter show's cancellation after just one season, Moses's performance left a lasting impression.
