Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Elliot Zuckerberg (born May 14, 1984) is an American businessman who rose to global prominence as the co-founder of the social media service Facebook and its parent company Meta Platforms, where he serves as the chairman, chief executive officer, and controlling shareholder. Zuckerberg launched Facebook from his Harvard College dorm room in February 2004 alongside his roommates Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. After taking Facebook public in May 2012 with majority shares, Zuckerberg became the world's youngest self-made billionaire at age 23. He has used his wealth to advance multiple philanthropic efforts, including the formation of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Despite facing numerous legal challenges concerning the creation and ownership of Facebook, as well as issues surrounding user privacy, Zuckerberg's influence has remained considerable in the technology industry. Beyond his work in technology, Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have committed to donating the majority of their wealth to philanthropic causes within their lifetimes.
