Matthew John Crnkovich, known professionally as Matt Craven, is a critically acclaimed Canadian character actor born on November 10, 1956. Craven has had a prolific career spanning over four decades, with his first roles dating back to 1979. His performance prowess has seen him feature in an impressive repertoire of over 40 films some of which include Happy Birthday to Me, Jacob's Ladder, K2, A Few Good Men, The Juror, Assault on Precinct 13, Disturbia, Tempting Fate and X-Men: First Class. He also made notable splashes in the television industry, with recurring roles in CBS series NCIS and importantly as Sheriff Fred Langston on the series Resurrection.

Born and raised in Ontario, Craven's early life was marked by resilience. He lost his father at just six weeks old, and later dropped out of high school to take up odd jobs in support of his family. It was around the age of 20 when he developed a passion for acting, leading to his first role in a local production of Dracula. His breakthrough came when he starred in his first film, Meatballs, with his performance acclaimed, catapulting him to fame. Craven continued to create ripples in the industry by starring in a variety of comedy pilots and notable dramatic works like Jacob's Ladder and Crimson Tide. More recently, he has worked with top industry directors like Steven Spielberg, featuring in series like From the Earth to the Moon and _ Boomtown_.
