Matthew Joseph Willig is an American actor and former professional football offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL). He was born on January 21, 1969, in La Mirada, California. He played football and basketball at St. Paul High School (Santa Fe Springs, California) and holds German and Lebanese roots. Willig's college football career started at the University of Southern California where he was a part of the 1989 Rose Bowl winning team. His professional football journey spanned 14 years, he played for teams such as the New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, to name a few. In addition to his talent in sports, he sparkled in his acting career. His performance enabled him to bag roles in TV shows as NCIS, Dexter, and Chuck. He demonstrated remarkable versatility by appearing in movies like 'Year One', 'Full Contact' and 'A Resurrection' and has extended his talent to voice acting with the Marvel game, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, where he voiced Juggernaut. He also appeared in numerous national commercial campaigns such as Capital One and Bud Light. Off the screen, Willig was raised Catholic and he openly supported the NOH8 Campaign in opposition to California Proposed 8, notably criticizing the Church's stance on same-sex marriage. Nevertheless, despite his disagreements, he still practices Catholicism.
