Mia Wasikowska

**Mia Wasikowska**, born on 25 October 1989, is an internationally recognized Australian actress. Her career began with a debut in the Australian television drama _All Saints_ in 2004, leading to her first film role in _Suburban Mayhem_ in 2006. She gained widespread recognition for her work on HBO's _In Treatment_ in 2008, earning a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female for _That Evening Sun_ in 2009. Wasikowska's breakthrough role came in 2010 as Alice in Tim Burton's _Alice in Wonderland_, catapulting her to worldwide fame. She reprised this role in 2016 in _Alice Through the Looking Glass_. She also starred in numerous critically acclaimed films such as _Jane Eyre_, _Restless_, _Stoker_, _Only Lovers Left Alive_, _Tracks_, _The Double_, _Maps to the Stars_, and _Crimson Peak_. Born in Canberra, Australia, Wasikowska is of Polish-Australian heritage -- her mother is a Polish photographer and her father an Australian photographer and collagist. She has an older sister, Jess, and a younger brother, Kai. In her early years, she studied ballet intensively, contemplating a professional career until the age of 14. This training later aids her in handling her nerves during auditions.
