Micheal Ward

**Micheal Ward** is a Jamaican-born English actor and former model, best known for his roles in the films *Blue Story* (2018) and *The Old Guard* (2020). He has also made significant appearances on television, most notably as Jamie in the Netflix show *Top Boy* and The A List. Ward was honored with the 2020 BAFTA Rising Star Award. In 2022, he starred in the Sam Mendes drama *Empire of Light* and was consequently nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Born in Spanish Town, Jamaica, to a then 18-year-old mother, Keisha, Ward was only two when he lost his father in a car crash. At the age of four, he moved to Hackney, East London with his family, aided by his aunt and uncle who ran a Caribbean restaurant. Later, the family shifted to Romford. Ward honed his skills at Chadwell Heath Academy and studied performing arts at Epping Forest College. His career started with music videos for artists like Lily Allen and Tom Walker, while still at college. At 17, Ward won the Face of JD Sports modelling competition and subsequently modelled for several brands. He made his film debut in 2016 with *Brotherhood* and his breakthrough came in 2019 with *Blue Story*, earning him the BAFTA Rising Star Award. More recently, he was cast in *Empire of Light* alongside Olivia Colman, Colin Firth, and Tanya Moodie. In personal life, Ward is an Arsenal fan. In 2020, he was named in Forbes' 30 under 30 list and became a British citizen in 2015.
