**Mike Pence** served as the 48th Vice President of the United States from January 20, 2017, to January 20, 2021, under President Donald Trump. Before his vice presidency, Pence held the position of the 50th Governor of Indiana from January 14, 2013, to January 9, 2017. During his tenure, he initiated the largest tax cut in Indiana's history and was an outspoken supporter of the coal industry. Pence marked a significant presence in U.S political congress holding various positions including the Chair of the House Republican Conference and member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Indiana. Pence's political career has also had its share of controversies, including his signing of the 'religious objections' bill which was heavily criticized as potentially permitting discrimination against LGBT persons. For his education, Pence attended Hanover College earning a Bachelor of Arts degree and later pursued his Juris Doctor from Indiana University Indianapolis. One notable aspect of his personal life is his conversion from Catholicism to born-again Christianity while in college. His political views also shifted to the right during this period, influenced by the 'common-sense conservatism' of Ronald Reagan. Throughout his political career, Pence has advocated fundamental conservative principles and has placed emphasis on issues such as fiscal responsibility, national defense, and strengthening American institutions.
