What's After the Movie

Mike Starr

**Mike Starrs**, born on November 10, 1944, in Edinburgh, Scotland, is a seasoned veteran of the rock music scene, most recognized for his artistic contributions to Colosseum II and Lucifer's Friend. Starrs initiated his music career in the late 1960s when he moved to London and associated himself with various minor bands. He was signed by record producer Tony Atkins for Marquee Productions and despite the absence of commercial success, remained determined in his pursuit of a musical career. His breakthrough moment arrived in 1975 when he was drafted into Colosseum II after being seen singing in a local pub. During his stint with Colosseum II, Starrs’ distinctive and robust singing style played a key role in shaping the band's music, juxtaposing beautifully with Gary Moore's guitar riffs, Don Airey's keyboard play and the rhythmic offerings of Neil Murray and Jon Hiseman. Despite the album Strange New Flesh (1976) not achieving commercial success, it marked the start of a potential British supergroup. However, his journey with Colosseum II was cut short due to differences with the record label owner. Starrs continued his musical voyage, touring Europe and the U.S. in 1975-76 and went on to join Lucifer's Friend, contributing to two of their albums. His notable works include Good Time Warrior (1978) and Sneak Me In (1980). He is presently associated with the Blues/Rock group Crossover.
