What's After the Movie
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, born as Nikolaj William Coster-Waldau on 27 July 1970, is a prominent Danish actor who graduated from the Danish National School of Performing Arts in Copenhagen in 1993. His career launched in Denmark with his breakthrough role in the film Nightwatch (1994). Globally, Coster-Waldau is renowned for playing Jaime Lannister in the HBO fantasy drama series Game of Thrones, a role that earned him two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. He has an impressive portfolio of films from Denmark, other Scandinavian countries, and the U.S. Some of his notable works include Headhunters (2011), A Thousand Times Good Night (2013), and the war film Black Hawk Down (2001) where he played Medal of Honor recipient Gary Gordon. Coster-Waldau had a significant transition to United States film and television starting from 2001. His debut U.S film Black Hawk Down paved his career for roles both in the U.S. and his native Scandinavia. Some of his other significant works include Enigma, My Name is Modesty, Kingdom of Heaven and Wimbledon. From 2011 to 2019, Coster-Waldau played Jaime Lannister in the HBO series Game of Thrones. He received several accolades for this character, including Primetime Emmy Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, Critics' Choice Television Award, Saturn Award and People's Choice Award nominations.
