**Nikolaj Lie Kaas** (Danish: [ˈne̝koˌlɑjˀ ˈliˀ ˈkʰɔˀs]) is a critically acclaimed Danish actor, born on May 22, 1973. Kaas made his first screen appearance in 1991 in Søren Kragh-Jacobsen's film, The Boys from St. Petri, where he portrayed Otto, the rebel son of a traitor. His evocative portrayal of complex characters has earned him a highly successful career and made him a recognizable face in the industry. He rose to prominence in the 1990s and proved his prowess by delivering exceptional performances in numerous films and plays. In 1998, Kaas graduated from the prestigious National Theater School in Denmark, further honing his acting skills and preparing for more challenging roles in his career. Kaas has demonstrated his versatility by successfully hosting the Zulu Comedy Galla on Danish TV not once but three times in 2009, 2011, and 2012. As the son of actor Preben Kaas and actress/writer Anne Mari Lie, acting seems to be in his blood. His cinematic contributions have not gone unnoticed. He has twice won the Robert Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2002 and 2012. Adding to his list of achievements, Kaas received the Lauritzen Award in 2012 and was named as one of European film's 'Shooting Stars' by European Film Promotion in 2003. Contrary to his professional life, his personal life is equally fulfilling. Married to Anne Langkilde since 2003, Kaas is a proud father of two beautiful daughters. Notably, his elder daughter Gerda Lie Kaas played the lead role in the Danish juvenile fantasy film, Wild Witch in 2018.
